Let’s face it, Cagliari is not a scoring machine but they have been playing some solid defense and their goalkeeper is one of the best in the league.
Cagliari vs. Milan UNDER 2.5 Goals (-135)
In fact, since October Cagliari are 9-3 UNDER 2.5; they have only conceded 3 goals twice at home in Serie A this season; and they have the second lowest combined goals for and against with only 27 (12F, 15A). They are averaging less than 2 goals per game this season.
In contrast, Milan has scored an average of just over 2 goals per match. They have scored 21 goals at home but only managed 12 goals on the road. Milan also has several injured players (Yepes, Abate, Cassano, Gattuso, Nesta).
Also, Cagliari seem to be this year’s poster child for most draws at home with 5.
I was tempted to play Cagliari +1 since Milan have only covered the -1 handicap once this season away from home (in all competitions) and that was a 2-0 win against Genoa where they benefited from a RED CARD in the 55’; scoring both their goals after that at 56’, 78’.
I've also noticed that Milan has played down to the level of their competition in recent matches. I expect Cagliari to play very contained football and wait patiently for Milan to slip up. I don’t anticipate any goal scoring to occur until late in the match. Milan should leave the island with a 1-0 win.
